Modern Staircase Hamble

As part of a significant refurbishment, our client wanted to change their existing carpeted staircase for a more light and open flight.

Oak Staircase

Based in Hamble-Le-Rice, on the coast near Southampton, our client selected our model 500 staircase which is a bespoke model with timber treads and glass balustrade.  We kept the same configuration as the previous flight (a quarter turn) but removed the platform from the old flight and formed the 90 degree turn with winding treads with our model 500 staircase.  This saved a little space and allowed us to have a little deeper tread.

Oak floors were being laid downstairs so oak treads were selected.  Instead of the 40-50mm standard, our client selected 100mm.  This was to give a chunky, reassuring solid feel to the staircase but also ensure the gap was less than 100mm without having any infill bars.   The stringers of the staircase were supplied in a matt powder coated white finish to blend in with the hallway and glass balustrade was supplied throughout – to allow maximum transparency.

This is a bespoke product and this ‘Modern Staircase Hamble’ was designed and build specifically for our client.  If you would like a price for a similar model please fill in the form below.

Comment on Modern Staircase Hamble from Complete Stair Systems

Nick Rackham

Project Manager

"Our client ran a very successful local building firm and was an existing customer. With this job for his property, it was important to ensure there was enough clearance at the bottom for the main thoroughfare from the entrance to the property to the kitchen under the stairs. We positioned a tread at floor level and increase the going (depth) of this to push the staircase away from the edge of the floor. "
