Project of the Month – July 2025
Glass Staircase Poole
Our client was constructing a new property on a plot at the edge of Sandbanks in Poole. A light and open design was required to ascend to the first floor, while a closed riser flight was necessary to descend to the basement. Both staircases were to be modern in appearance and constructed using matching materials. The client selected our model 500 staircase, featuring sleek steel stringers on each side and solid timber treads. The upper flight was freestanding and required balustrades on both sides, which were created with frameless glass. The lower staircase featured fully closed risers and was equipped with a wall-mounted stainless steel handrail.
The steel stringers were cut in a zigzag profile to align with the riser and tread dimensions and were powder-coated grey. The treads, made of beech, were white-waxed in the factory. Each step included a small downstand at the front, creating the appearance of a thicker step while maintaining a gap of less than 100mm between the treads.
Matching landing balustrades were installed on the ground floor between the flights and along the upper level next to the staircase.
Our model 500 remains one of our most popular designs, with its distinctive features capable of enhancing any hallway.
