Garage Spiral Stair Winchester
Our customer was renovating their house, which included constructing a link to connect the garage to the main building. Above the garage was a hobby room, and a space-saving solution was required to provide access from the new link extension.
A spiral staircase was the ideal solution, and after visiting our showroom, the client chose the model 71 spiral staircase. Although some of our more economically priced kit solutions were considered, they specifically wanted a square platform level with the upper door and were particularly keen on oak for the treads and handrail. With oak doors and flooring throughout the extension, this was the logical choice for the spiral staircase.
To maintain an open and light design, the balustrade was made from 8mm toughened curved glass panels that wrapped around the perimeter of the spiral, secured with stainless steel clamps. These brushed clamps complemented the posts and the central column. Stainless steel riser bars were also provided to match but were not installed when the photos were taken.
The staircase had a diameter of 1500mm, ensuring the required 600mm clear tread width for compliance as a secondary access stair. It featured 14 risers in total to reach the square top platform at a height of 2860mm, level with the doorway.
Year after year, our model 71 spiral staircase remains the most popular domestic spiral staircase we offer. Its smooth design and open appearance continue to be highly appreciated.
