Church Spiral Stair Blandford Forum
Two spiral staircases were provided for a holiday let refurbishment in Blandford Forum, Dorset. The property was a former chapel, and access was needed to each of the ‘loft bedrooms’ located in the eaves. Our client, a designer by profession, selected a galvanised spiral staircase from the range, featuring basic steel treads intended to be covered with vinyl upon completion.
The result was highly effective, showcasing a modern, industrial steel spiral staircase within a traditionally styled building.
Each staircase had a diameter of 1500mm to ensure the 600mm clear tread width required for regulatory compliance, with a substantial 4.6m floor-to-floor height. The spiral stairs were our standard ‘external fire escapes,’ incorporating vertical steel spindles and a steel handrail. In collaboration with the client, a 1.5mm plate stringer was added to the exterior of the spiral to conceal the treads and introduce an additional design element.
Our custom spirals are supplied for domestic and commercial settings internal and externally.
