Bespoke Timber Staircase Swavesey

A feature timber staircase was required by our client in Swavesey, near Cambridge. The refurbishment included a colossal entrance hallway which was suited to a large staircase. Together with our client we discussed the options and decided upon a solid oak, cut stringer staircase forming a half turn configuration. There was a half landing as well as a platform at the top, level with the floor. The risers were closed with solid oak and we introduced a slight angle to the bottom to aid assent.

Large Half Turn Staircase

Stepped Style Timber Staircase

The stepped style timber staircases incorporate a ‘cut’ stringer down one or both sides of the staircase. This means the stringer is positioned underneath the treads so you can see the riser and going of the treads from the side of the stair.

The spindles therefore span directly from the tread to the handrail. The stepped style stair can have open or closed risers, and be configured as a straight flight, quarter or half turn. Various timbers, spindles and newels are available.
