Modern Staircase Botley

Botley, near Hedge End (Southampton) was the location for this stunning oak quarter turn WF floating staircase.  The project was a new build and we were engaged by our client at a very early stage.  After a visit to our showroom it was clear a modern staircase was required within a reasonable budget but without glass.  Our client liked the WF staircase display and we proceed on that basis by getting the initial drawings prepared.  Once the screed had been laid we visited to take the measurements and then commenced with production.  The timber was all supplied in solid oak to match the floor to be laid downstairs and our client opted for the curved handrail at the turn of the staircase which is a beautiful option giving a lovely twisting swoop to the handrail.

Beech Open Staircase

The WF staircase is a bespoke timber stair with cantilevered treads.  The staircase only has a wall stringer, leaving the treads on the open side suspended in mid air!  These treads are suspended by steel spindles which span upto the custom made  handrail which takes the load.  This load is then transferred to the newels posts at the top and bottom of the flight.  It is probably the most open staircase we offer and is surprisingly economically priced when compared with other cantilevered style staircases.   The stair is available in virtually any hardwood and can be configured as a straight flight, quarter or half turn, depending on the wall location.
