Spiral Staircase and Staircase News

18th October 2010

Some pictures of our ever popular WF timber staircase installed near us in Southampton.  Being a local job and such a stunning design we got Romsey Fotografix in to take a couple of professional shots.   We obviously have a number of  pics but have only displayed a few here – please call if you would like to see some more.

The stair itself is an OAK WF Staircase  – in this case witha white wall stringer and an internal curved handrail.  To comply with the 100mm gap rule, the customer opted for the L shaped tread option giving the appearance of an extra thick tread when ascending.   This gives the treads a chunky look whilst keeping the open risers.  The white stringer certainly emphasises the floating feel to the staircase as it appears the treads are hanging from the wall.

Beech WF staircase with half platform

Beech WF staircase with half platformBeech open staircase installed in Cambridge a few weeks ago. Just received the pictures from the client. She selected a half turn WF staircase with a half landing platform. This staircase has the unique WF 'hanging' structure with no stringer on the internal side. This, along with open risers create a nice floating feel to the staircase, allowing the passage of light.Beech Wf staircase | No internal stringer!

Some new pictures here of a WF Beech modern timber stair in a quarter turn configuration.
The pictures have been taken directly after installation with the walls still to be painted.
We shall lauch this as a separate case study shortly but meanwhile have a look at a few other WF stairs -

In this picture you can see the angled ‘swoop’ of the wall stringer as it absorbs the larger goings of the winding treads.
As usual for a quote – all we need it the shape of the WF (straight flight / quarter turn staircase or half turn staircase) the type of timber you would like (hardwoods only) the width and the floor to floor height.
