Bespoke Timber Staircase - New Forest - WF 1

A stunning bespoke timber staircase supplied to a customer in the New Forest – Lyndhurst to be precise. Our customer met us at the National Homebuilding show in Birmingham last year and was building his dream home. He required an open, light, bespoke timber staircase to create a real impression when entering the property whilst not dominating the view.

Bespoke Timber Staircase - New Forest - WF 4

Together we went with the WF bespoke timber staircase which has floating tread on the internal side. Solid Oak treads and wall stringer were complimented with light brushed stainless steel spindles to the internal side and glass infill panels on the landing level. Our customer went with the curved internal handrail adding a real swoop as it twisted around.

The end result was striking, with the oak blending in with the surrounds and the open feel allowing light to pass through from the front of the property to the back.

Oak Staircase - WF style floating style

Floating style Oak staircase supplied for a new build in Lowestoft.  Our WF design with solid timber treads with open risers and a stringer only located on the wall side.  The internal side of the stair and the outer side of the first four treads are supported by the extra deep handrail which actually acts as a stringer.

Oak Staircase

This customer opted for the stunning curved internal handrail in this Oak staircase which looks fantastic.

From the picture above you can really get a feel  for the open and light nature of the flight.  Not what springs to mind when you think – solid oak staircase!!

The landing balustrade here we infilled with glass panels.  We kept the same timber for the handrail and newel posts but went for the balustrade infill that allowed the the maximum passage of light – Glass panels!

Some really stunning pictures of a WF timber staircase supplied to a customer near us in Ringwood.

Our customer sent in the pictures and he has really captured the floating feel the staircase has given the refurbishment.

The WF timber staircase has no internal / exposed stringer – only one on the wall side so the entire flight appears to float in mid air.

In this instance the wall stringer was supplied ‘cover painted white’ to further emphasise the floating feel.

This model was supply in a quarter turn with a stunning swooping curved handrail at the 90 degree turn.  If you look closely at the pictures you will see a small platform at floor level which was required to ensure the wall stringer missed the doorway below whilst maintaining sufficient headroom.

This model was supplied with beech parquet treads and handrail which the customer oiled himself to match the surrounding timber of the doors and windows.    I am sure you agree the result is truly spectacular!!!!

As usual – please let us know the height, configuration and timber you would like.

Further examples of this model can be seen on the links below.

Open timber staircase installed recently in our open WF style.  This model was  a little unique as it didnt form a conventional half turn.  The bottom of the staircase was only angled around 45 degrees instead of 90 and the upper turn had a 45 degree angle shaped into the stringer – see the pics to see.

The treads, wall stringer on this open staircase were created in 42mm oak and the spindles were stainless steel.  Our client went for a curved handrail at both turns to create a real swooping effect.

An open, modern WF Oak staircase in a half turn configuration.

With no internal stringer the WF always creates a floating feel as it ‘hangs’ from the handrail.

Supplied to a customer in Aberdeen this staircase had a swooping curving oak handrail – twisting and turning up the internal side.  The white wall stringer made it blend in with the wall and further enhance the floating feel to the flight.

As the stair was in Scotland a wall handrail was also required.  Matching landing balustrade was supplied around the opening at loft level.

Our WF Timber Staircase continues to be an extremely popular choice with our customer because of its open, floating feel whilst using solid timber.  You can see some other examples using the links below.

Some great pictures of a straight flight model 500 supplied to new build in Guildford.

This model had Oak treads with steel stepped stringers to either side.  The risers were fully closed with toughened glass infill panels and a floating, frameless glass balustrade was fitted to one side.

The result was a truly open, stunning staircase which enhanced the property and enticed people upstairs.

This laminated glass balustrade design is becoming very popular and we will have some more pictures to post soon of similar models.  This stair can be purchase in a quarter turn, half turn or straight flight and the frameless balustrade can also be supplied for landing levels.

Here are some other model 500 systems we have supplied around the country.

A few pictures of a WF Oak staircase supplied to a refurbishment in Teddington, London.  Quite an unusual project as we actually supplied two small straight flights to create a quarter turn arrangement.  Our customer already had a mid platform in place.

The stair itself is our ever popular WF system with only a wall stringer for support.  This creates a nice open floating feel to the staircase which in this instance was constructed in Oak.  Our customer opted for 20mm diameter Oak spindles for the staircase and glass infill panels for the upper landing level allowing the passage of light.  Instead of being held in place by steel clamps, this glass balustrade actually sat in groves in the handrail / floor rail / newel posts, creating a striking seamless effect.
