What a month it has been since our last update  -  goodness me!!

In that time we have ……… confirmed an order for 14 bespoke timber staircase for a prestige development in Muswell Hill, put the final touches to our new ecommerce website (more to follow), sold over 150 blinds through our sister website www.fakro-blinds.co.uk , delivered spiral no. 4 of 8 to a developer in Devon and secured the order for a stunning spiral staircase for a health spa in central London.

Added to which we have signed and exchanged on our new unit which we will be moving into in June.  Still in the lovely market town of Romsey we have taken over a brand new industrial unit on the outskirts of town.  The size of the unit gives us scope for a much larger showroom and the room to recruit further personnel.  As it is currently a blank shell we have enlisted www.levelbestsolutions.com to build a mezzanine floor and fit out the offices, kitchen, toilets and showroom area.

Many thanks for all the entries into our staircase photo competition. We have been blown away by the effort people have made and the standard of some of the photography.

Whilst we like to think we can spot a good photo, to make the competition fair we enlisted the support of Sandra from  www.romseyfotografix.co.uk for her expert opinion. We also put it out to our facebook fans ( http://www.facebook.com/pages/Complete-Stair-Systems/252044419455 to like) for their input, and the result was unanimous.

Steven from Cambridgeshire sent us a number of stunning shots of his model 71 spiral staircase with curved acrylic panels wrapping around the flight.   Today he received his free IPAD2 (yes, yes I know but – the IPAD3 was launched after the entries we received) and is obviously extremely pleased.

External Spiral Staircase – North London

Another great example of a functional external spiral staircase transforming the rear of a property.  Not only is this new spiral staircase providing our customer quick access to his garden which previously didn’t exist, it also doubles up as a balcony!!

This particular external spiral staircase was a  1400mm diameter  model and had a 1950 x 900mm top platform.  The treads and deck were of a non slip perforated material and the balustrade had child friendly vertical spindles.  This spiral was supply fully galvanised but it can be supplied powder coated if required.

This type of external spiral staircase is becoming increasingly popular and we are supplying them across.  They are all made to measure units (the height and rotation is unique to each stair) and are supplied in kit form for simple assembly.

Floating style Oak staircase supplied for a new build in Lowestoft.  Our WF design with solid timber treads with open risers and a stringer only located on the wall side.  The internal side of the stair and the outer side of the first four treads are supported by the extra deep handrail which actually acts as a stringer.

This customer opted for the stunning curved internal handrail in this Oak staircase which looks fantastic.

From the picture above you can really get a feel  for the open and light nature of the flight.  Not what springs to mind when you think – solid oak staircase!!

The landing balustrade here we infilled with glass panels.  We kept the same timber for the handrail and newel posts but went for the balustrade infill that allowed the the maximum passage of light – Glass panels!

It is the most open and light spiral staircase we offer. Being bespoke, the model 76 glass spiral staircase can be manufactured up to 2200mm diameter and up to 3600mm in height. The going (depth of each tread) and riser height is custom made for each model supplied and additional landing balustrade can be supplied – as in this instance.

Worried about privacy? This has certainly come up a few times and we simply tint / colour or sandblast the treads. Worried about slipping? Another common question and again sandblasting the top of the glass will produce a non slip effect.

Some stunning pictures of a timber spiral staircase supplied to a customer in Farnham just arrived.  The trusty ‘model 71 timber spiral staircase’ looking fantastic in the corner of a room, providing access to a mezz deck.  It this case the treads and handrail were supplied in beech stained black creating a great effect against the blue back wall.

This timber spiral staircase (model 71) was supplied with brushed stainless steel  spindles to the stair and with glass panels on the landing level keeping it light and open.

A solid beech ‘WF staircase’ supplied to a customer in East Grinstead in West Sussex.  A tight opening in the first floor required a small half turn flight twisting to the right upon assent.   The beauty of the WF staircase is the lack of internal stringer and open risers giving a very open feel to the flight.  Although this customer didnt go for this, we can also remove the stringer from the external side of the first four treads and the final flight (leaving only a wall stringer) creating a real floating feel.

This staircase can be supplied as a straight flight, quarter turn and can be made to suit a much larger opening.  It is manufacturer in any hardwood with oak extremely popular at the moment.  Stunning options include curved internal handrails, special L shaped tread/riser profiles and a white wall stringer to further emphasise the floating feel.

We supplied a staircase to a property featured as the cover story in the September edition of Homebuilding & Renovating magazine.  The property was truly stunning, an oak frame build with a stunning mix of traditional beams and contemporary features within.  Not least (as you would expect us the say) the staircase!

In keeping with the oak structure and the visual beams on display we went for oak treads supported by simple, clean white painted steel stringers.  The stair had glass riser fitted between each tread which along with the glass balustrade created a open and light feel to the flight.  It was positioned in front of the main entrance door and had to create an immediate impression when entering the property.  We certainly believe it does!

At Complete Stair Systems we offer a complete range of stairs for your home.  From the ultra modern bespoke model to an off the shelf kit we will have a product to suit.  We offer an economical range of fully bespoke external spiral staircase suitable for both domestic and commercial usage.  Fully functional models, made to measure – whether it is providing a fire escape to an office block or a quick access route to the upper floor of an annex – which is the purpose of this particular spiral.

Supplied direct to the customer, this model provided a means of escape to the upper level of a newly created annex.  With a much smaller footprint than a conventional staircase, this snug little spiral fitted perfected in place and didn’t encroach too much into the garden area.  Being a bespoke model we were able to increase the size of the upper platform slightly to push to centre column and spiral a little further away from the building to keep a storage space underneath.

For all these stairs full AUTOCAD drawings are prepared and submitted for approval before manufacture.  This spiral was 1200mm diameter and consisted of non slip perforated steel treads with 10mm diameter vertical steel spindles.  It was supplied fully galvanised for protection against the elements.

Within this range we can also powder coat each spiral after galvanising to any colour you wish.  We can also incorporate a much larger platform creating a balcony area for those long summer nights!!
