New Staircase Website

New stunning timber staircase website

Just about there with our stunning new website www.timberstairsystems.co.uk.  We are certainly not developers but decided to have a crack at this site ourselves.  Although we are not 100% there (few tweaks to make) we are pretty happy with the overall result.  The focus of the site is our open and light solid timber staircases we import from Sweden.  Stunning and innovative designs, a breath of fresh air compared with some of the ‘standard’ UK timber stair designs.

Under the timber staircase projects page we have added our best staircases supplied throughout the UK to both end users and property developers.

Have a look and let us know what you think.  Please keep in mind it isn’t completely finished but give me a couple more days……..

Modern Timber Staircase supplied to a refurbishment in Nottingham creating a stunning visual impact.

Supplying stunning staircases which make an impression is what we are all  -   about and this quarter turn flight timber staircase certainly hits the spot.   Oak treads with a white cut stringer matches beautifully to the stairs surrounds with the open risers keeping it light and open.

Modern Timber Staircase 1

We like it and certainly the customer did as they sent these snaps.

Modern Timber Staircase 1

Yes, I know they didn’t have balustrade and no it doesn’t meet building regulations.  This was pointed out the client but they weren’t subject to planning as it was a small refurbishment – plus they didn’t have any children!  Glass panels or spindles in stainless or timber can be retrofitted if required.

Check out the curved stringer detail – adds a lovely feature dont you think!

If you would like a price for a similar timber staircase – please get in touch.  Crucially we need to know the shape of the stair (straight flight, quarter turn, half turn), the height and the timber you would like.  Call us on 01794 522444 or email info@completestairsystems.co.uk.   You can of course pop into our new showroom in Romsey- please call to make an appointment.

Oak Staircase - WF style floating style

Floating style Oak staircase supplied for a new build in Lowestoft.  Our WF design with solid timber treads with open risers and a stringer only located on the wall side.  The internal side of the stair and the outer side of the first four treads are supported by the extra deep handrail which actually acts as a stringer.

Oak Staircase

This customer opted for the stunning curved internal handrail in this Oak staircase which looks fantastic.

From the picture above you can really get a feel  for the open and light nature of the flight.  Not what springs to mind when you think – solid oak staircase!!

The landing balustrade here we infilled with glass panels.  We kept the same timber for the handrail and newel posts but went for the balustrade infill that allowed the the maximum passage of light – Glass panels!

For prices for your very own light and open Oak staircase in the WF style please let us know the floor to floor height, the shape of the stair you require (this one is a half turn) and the timber you would like (any hardwood).  Give us a call on 01794 522444 or email info@completestairsystems.co.uk .

Have finally worked though the enquiries from the Grand Designs show but have been neglecting the blog posts.  Here we go then –

This long standing customer of ours based in Shaftesbury, Wilts, was building a new property which required a new feature staircase. The requirement was for simple clean lines, a modern and open feel  and of course it had to fall within the allocated budget .

Our traditional structure stair was selected in beech parquet timber, with open risers and polished stainless steel spindles.  Our Traditional structure certainly doesn’t mean traditional style as you can see in the pictures – it refers to the way the stair is supported, with two stringers either side.

Beech parquet is a very popular choice at present.  With this option the timber is still solid beech but each block is made up of smaller pieces giving a more pronounced stripe effect.   It is about 15% cheaper than solid beech and is often requested to match a parquet floor.

Our ‘traditional’ structure stairs are available in a variety of configurations, designs and materials. Remember – traditional structure but modern design.  Combining solid timber with open and light balustrade options.

Have a look at our sister website  – www.timberstairsystems.co.uk for more examples or click on the links below.

13th October 2011

Returned Sunday night from the Grand Designs show at the NEC.  Great show with over 50000 people visiting in the three days.  Really good response on the stand where we had displays of the Model 500 staircase and the WF modern timber staircase.

From when the ribbon was cut by Kevin McCloud on Friday morning we were inundated with questions and enquiries about our range of staircases. Little bit tired now being our 12 day working but really worth it!!  We shifted around 1400 brochures on the stand and are now going through the wad of enquiry forms that were filled in.  We plan to get any requested sales packs & disks out by the end of the week with all quotes being done by Friday 22nd.  Wish us luck!!!

We have been featured in the latest issue of the Selfbuilder and Homemaker magazine (p59-61).  The article entitled ‘Dont forget the staircase’ was written by Managing Director Nick Rackham and highlights the point that staircases are often overlooked in the early design stage of a build.

The staircase is very often the first item on show when entering a property creating the perfect opportunity to create a stunning impression.  As the staircase is installed and the end of a build with all other works complete, we are often approached by customers who have a very small opening in the floor, sometimes not large enough to  get a compliant staircase in place.

So our advice is not to neglect the staircase and get a staircase company on board very early on to advise on the size of opening and the entry and exit points.

In additional to the geometry of the flight you have the materials and style of the staircase to consider.  Open risers, glass balustrade and hardwood treads are very popular at the moment and we offer a good range of these in a variety of configurations.

Of course – why not send your plans to us!!  Please email cad / pdf files to us at info@completestairsystems.co.uk
